En Octobre 2009 j'ai reçu d'un sympathique internaute espagnol habitant Séville, Alfonso Hernandez Fuentes, le message ci-dessous :

I write this letter to you to ask for your help in a new project we have begun last month: our target y to completely restore and publish in facsimil the most important sci-fi magazines in Spanish. We start this proyect with a Mexican mag called "Los Cuentos Fantasticos" (1947-1954) and it will be an absolutely private and very limited edition:

Most of the covers and interior art of this magazine was taken from American originals as "Amazing", "Famous Fantastic Mysteries", etc.
Our biggest problem in the work of restauration is the horrible state of these Mexican originals; to be able to restore digitally all the graphics would be a huge help to have good scans from the American originals; most of them are in your collection, I think.
So, the contribution of someone like you would be key in the development of our project.
Of course, not only your name would be in the credits as contributor or even as member of the restoration team in the terms that you want, but we'd also send for you a copy of every item we restore as an additional acknowledgement.

Je vous adresse ce courrier pour vous demander votre aide pour un nouveau projet qui a débuté le mois dernier (septembre 2009). Notre but est de complètement restaurer et publier sous la forme de fac similé les plus importants magazines de science-fiction en langue espagnole. Ce projet à débuté avec une revue Mexicaine s'appelant "Los Cuentos Fantasticos" (1947-1954). Cette édition au tirage limitée aura un caractère strictement privé.

La plupart des couvertures et des illustrations intérieures de ce magazine proviennent des originaux se trouvant dans les revues américaines telles que Amazing Stories, Famous Fantastic Mysteries,etc...Le problème principal rencontré dans notre travail de restauration est l'état désastreux des numéros de ce magazine Mexicain. Pour être en mesure d'effectuer une restauration correcte des illustrations il nous serait nécessaire d'obtenir des scans de qualité effectués à partir des originaux, et nous pensons que la plupart font partie de votre collection. En conséquence votre participation serait un élément clé dans l'accomplissement de notre projet.
Bien évidemment vous seriez crédité pour votre contribution. Vous seriez même désigné comme un membre de notre équipe de restauration dans les conditions désignées par vous. De plus un exemplaire de chaque ouvrage restauré vous serais adressé.

Los Cuentos Fantasticos

"Los Cuentos Fantásticos" ("Fantastic Tales") was one of the first sci-fi magazines in Spanish language. It was published in Mexico from 1948 to 1954 and it reached 45 issues. Its contents were mostly by North-American authors like Ray Bradbury, Jack Vance, Robert A. Heinlein, Eric Frank Russell, Fritz Leiber, etc. Forrest J. Ackerman was (as literary agent) the one who supplied most of this stuff to the Mexican publisher (Editorial Enigma). We can even find some stories (by Ackerman himself and by E. Everett Evans) that were published for the first time in this magazine, although there is no credit of this fact in any Index. Moreover, some of them were only published in "Los Cuentos Fantásticos" and still remain unpublished in their original English language.
Nowadays, it's really dificult (almost impossible) to find issues of this lost Mexican treasure. Actually, there is no trace of some of them (issues #1 to #4, #7, #10, #12, and #14) and the few you can find being sold in internet are with crazy prices.

"Los Cuentos Fantàsticos" (Histoires Fantastiques) fut l'un des premiers magazines de science-fiction en langue espagnole. 45 numéros furent publiés au Mexique entre 1948 et 1954. Ses sommaires étaient constitués de récits d'auteurs nord américains comme Ray Bradbury, Jack Vance, Robert Heinlein, Eric Frank Russell, Fritz Leiber, etc...C'est Forest J Ackerman qui, en tant qu'agent littéraire, fut pour l'éditeur Mexicain les Editions Enigma le principal pourvoyeur de récits. On peut même trouver des nouvelles d'Ackerman lui-même et E. Everett Evans qui y furent publiées pour la première fois bien qu'aucun index n'en fasse mention. De plus un certain nombre de récits publiés uniquement dans "Los Cuentos Fantàsticos" resterons toujours comme non publiées dans leur langue d'origine, c'est à dire l'Anglais.
De nos jours il est vraiment très difficile, sinon impossible de mettre la main sur ce trésor Mexicain. Certains numéros ont complètement disparus de la circulation (1 à 4, 7,10,12, 14). Les autres peuvent atteindre des prix dingues sur internet
